Sparrows (5)

'...Your Heavenly Father feeds them...' Matthew 6:26 NKJV

A needy sparrow. Jesus said:

'Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them.

And aren't you far more valuable to Him than they are?
Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
And why worry about your clothing?

Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don't work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you.

Why do you have so little faith?...These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your Heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need' (Matthew 6:26-33 NLT).

If you need some more Scriptural promises to stand on, here they are:
'Fear the Lord, you His godly people, for those who fear Him will have all they need' (Psalms 34:9 NLT). 'Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments. His descendants will be mighty on the earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house...He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord' (Psalm 112:1-7 NKJV).

God recorded these promises in His Word so that you could read them over and over, and in reading them, rise above worry and live your life with joy and confidence.

'...Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will.' Matthew 10:29 NKJV

A fallen sparrow.

Jesus said, 'Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will.'

Great news: God knows when you fall, and His will is to lift you up again. Perhaps you were flying high, then you made a mistake. You were sabotaged by a secret struggle you couldn't share with anyone. Or your trust was devastated by someone you loved. As a result you are afraid to begin again; afraid you can't overcome your past and rise again to fulfil your destiny.

Regardless of how many times you've failed, God still loves you.

  • Have you been attacked in a specific area of your life and it's become an area of repeated failure?
  • Have you asked yourself, 'What is this battle about?'

Hear this: the battle is not over your past, it's over your future! That's why you are a target. And the God Who gave Peter and Jonah a second chance, will lift you from the ashes of failure and remake your life into something beautiful.

God saw you when you fell, so there's no reason to try and hide from Him. Like the shepherd who went looking for his one lost sheep, God is looking for you today. Not to condemn you but to restore you. Self-exaltation leads to pride, which God hates.

But self-loathing leads to paralysis. There's only one unpardonable sin (Mark 3:22-30, Matthew 12:31-32), so you can go to God with confidence knowing He will give you a fresh start. And this time He will empower you to be strong and succeed.

'The sparrow has found a home...a place near your altar...' Psalm 84:3 NIV

A lost sparrow.

The hit TV series Lost was about a plane crashing on a remote island and the survivors rebuilding their lives amidst the wreckage. The secret of the show's success was that we could all relate to it. We've lost marriages, businesses, homes, self-worth, security and a lot of other things.

But Jesus came to '...seek and to save that which was lost' (Luke 19:10 AMP). Unlike us, Jesus didn't see people as 'good' or 'bad', but as 'lost'. He knew they'd lost their way, lost their values, lost their relationships, lost their ability to cope, lost their faith, and in some cases lost their reason to live.

And He sought them out: like the woman at the well with five divorces and a live-in boyfriend; like the man who lay at the Pool of Bethesda for 38 years, chronically ill, noticed by no one; like Mary who wept at the tomb of the One she loved most.

If you're lost today, you can have a personal audience with the Lord. 'The sparrow has found a home...where she may lay her young - even Your altars, O Lord of Hosts...Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; they will still be praising You' (Psalm 84:3-4 NKJV).

Today you can 'come home' to God!
You can build your nest and raise your family in the shelter of His protection. You can feel safe with Him. As you bow in worship, He will lift you up and make you feel valuable again. He will deliver you from the fear of rejection and loneliness.

You can't hide from God, but you can hide in Him.

Sparrows (2)

'I am like...a sparrow alone on the housetop.' Psalm 102:6-7 NKJV

A lonely sparrow.

The Psalmist wrote,

'I am like...a sparrow alone on the housetop.'

Has your nest been torn apart by a storm?

Have you lost your mate?

Jesus can relate.

His disciples didn't 'get Him'. They argued over who would be the greatest. They failed to pray with Him in His most difficult moments. On the cross He cried out, 'My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me' (Matthew 27:46 NKJV)?

We smile at the story of the single lady who hung a pair of trousers on her bedpost, then sent God a letter: 'Father in Heaven, help me if you can. I've hung a pair of trousers here, please fill them with a man.'

Seriously, loneliness can be devastating to your self-worth. Young people wonder if they will ever find the right person to marry. Older people fear ending life all alone.

The God Who knew that Adam was incomplete not only created Eve for him, but actually introduced them and brought them together. And He can do the same for you. If you are widowed, divorced, or never married and want to find a mate, don't be anxious.

God says, 'I know...where you dwell...' (Revelation 2:13 NKJV).

God knows your name, your address, and every detail about you. And better yet, He cares!

And one more thought: sometimes loneliness is not the absence of affection but the absence of direction; not the absence of people but the absence of purpose. So begin to reach out to others. Find a need no one is meeting, pour your life into it and watch how things begin to improve for you.

Sparrows (1)

'...Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.' Luke 12:7 NKJV

In teaching us how to live, Jesus used sparrows to illustrate His point.

For the next few days let's look at them:

A worthless sparrow. 'Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God...Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows' (Luke 12:6-7 NKJV).

In Christ's day they didn't sell hamburgers, they sold sparrows on a stick that had been roasted over a fire. You could buy two of them for one copper coin. But you could get five for two copper coins; the vendor threw in the fifth one free.

That meant it was worthless.

What was Christ's point? You are valuable in God's eyes!

Do you feel like if you weren't around nobody would miss you; like your life means nothing? You'd be surprised how many people, even high-profile ones, struggle with a sense of inferiority and inadequacy. When God called Jeremiah to be a prophet, he explained to God that he was afraid of people. So God said, 'Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you' (Jeremiah 1:8 NKJV). When you feel worthless you conclude that others feel the same way too, so you begin to approach them fearfully, or aggressively, or even resentfully.

What's the answer?

Remembering your worth in God's eyes!

There is no rejection in His love, only complete acceptance. You're connected! You have a friend in high places. Jesus said, '...I have called you friends...' (John 15:15 KJV).

Will everybody accept you?

No, but when you base your worth on God's love and acceptance, you're free to enjoy life.

Value Every Moment

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12, NIV)

Have you stopped to consider that today is a special gift from God?

Sometimes, our days can be so full and busy that we forget how fragile life really is. It can be easy to allow little things to creep in and steal our peace and joy.

Maybe something doesn't go our way, or someone says something upsetting. Even traffic can cause us to lose focus if we let it.

We have to remember that each day is a gift. If we choose to focus on what’s wrong, we'll miss the blessing that each day has to offer.

I encourage you today; don't let the precious moments of life pass you by.

Don’t wait for holidays and birthdays to show people that you care. Remember, each day is unique and irreplaceable. You have been given time that can be invested or wasted; hours that can be used or misused. That’s why the psalmist prayed to God, “Teach us to number our days.” He was saying, “Teach us to value every moment we've been given.”

As you daily keep a proper perspective, you’ll gain a heart of wisdom. You'll draw closer to God and experience the full blessing that He has for you each and every day!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, thank You for the gift of today. I choose to focus on the blessing of each moment instead of allowing the little things to steal my joy. Keep me close to You always as I surrender every area of my heart and mind to You in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Who is the coming "world ruler"

  • Who is the coming "world ruler"?
  • What is his role in end-time prophecy?
  • Will his appearance have any connection with the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem?

In Revelation 13:1 the apostle John states, "And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy." The ten horns of John's vision correspond to the ten toes of  Daniel's image in chapter 2 of the Book of Daniel.

Let's investigate this account and see its importance in our discussion concerning the "coming world ruler."

Nebuchadnezzar, the king of ancient Babylon, had a dream.

However, he could not recall its content. Therefore, he called in his magicians, astrologers, and soothsayers, saying, not very politely, I might add, "Tell me what I dreamed, or I'll kill you." That certainly got their attention.

However, they were stymied: They could not fulfill this bizarre request.

However, Daniel, a young Jew and a man of prayer, fell on his knees three times a day before his God Jehovah and received the answer.

{27} The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king; {28} But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these . . . {31} Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible. {32} This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass. {33} His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay. {35} Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth. . . . {37} Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. {38} . . . Thou art this head of gold. {39} And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth. {40} And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise. {41} And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay. (Daniel 2:27-28, 31-35, 37-41)

Those who scoff, ridicule, and slander the Word of God would be well advised to dust off their history books to discover the reliability of the Bible. In this passage we see that Daniel gave King Nebuchadnezzar an outline of world history down to the last days-events that have taken place precisely as God said they would.

Daniel said, "You, King Nebuchadnezzar, are the head of gold (Babylon), but there will be two nations pictured by the arms of silver (the Medes and the Persians) who will destroy you. Then there will be a kingdom of brass (Greece), pictured by the stomach, which will destroy the Medes and the Persians. Next, the kingdom of iron (Rome), pictured by two legs, will smash Greece."

Why two legs?

Because at one time in history, the Roman Empire was divided, having headquarters both at Rome and Constantinople. Again, a historical fact.

Notice carefully that the only power not put out of existence is the Roman Empire. At the end time, the iron again manifests itself in the toes of the image. It is a deteriorated form mingled with clay, but still viable.

Edward Gibbon's masterpiece The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire reminds us that Rome was never destroyed but rather lost its prominence because of degradation and sin.

This historical fact fits the clay of deterioration.

Nonetheless, the Roman Empire will be revived in the last days through an alignment of ten Western nations, pictured by the ten toes of Daniel's image and the ten horns in the Book of Revelation. (See my book Final Mysteries Unsealed [Nashville: Word, 1998], 225 pages of verse-by-verse explanation of the Book of Daniel.)

In verse 44 of chapter 2, Daniel says, "And in the days of these kings [the confederacy of ten Western nations] shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." This refers to the return of Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, which we know is very near.

Consider Daniel 2:34 again: "Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces."

What, or better who, is the stone that smashes the image when the ten Western nations have aligned themselves?

Acts 4:11: "[Christ] is the stone which was set at nought of you builders." First Corinthians 10:4: "And that Rock [or stone] was Christ."

Since 1948, we have witnessed an amalgamation of Western nations in the form of the European Economic Community or "Common Market." The movement began with Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands joining in economic alliance. Then France, Italy, and West Germany joined in 1957. In 1972, three additional members-Denmark, England, and Ireland-were received. Then, on January 1, 1981, Greece became the ratified tenth member. However, Ireland and Denmark were never part of the old Roman Empire.

What about them? The answer is simple.

Daniel 7:8 states, "I considered the horns [at the end time], and, behold, there came up among them [the ten] another little horn [number 11!], before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots." Once a ten-nation Western confederacy has been formed, number eleven comes to power, plucks up three of the first ten, and replaces them with his own and two others.

Later the majority of the globe is under his control. This leader will be the world dictator and infamous Antichrist-the final global ruler.

The organization of the European Economic Community is important because the first beast, or Antichrist of the Book of Revelation, comes out of such an alignment of Western nations. In Revelation 13:1, John says, "I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea."

The sea speaks of nations, and the ten toes of Daniel's image and the ten horns of Revelation 13:1 describe a grouping of ten nations. Because this prophecy is now in the early stages of fulfillment, the stage is being set for a powerful world leader who works through this grouping of Western nations until he is able to assume worldwide prominence for his "greatness." We know that he will come from the West because Daniel 9:26 states that he is of the people that destroyed the city and the sanctuary.

Who are these people?

As we have already seen, in A.D. 70, Titus, the Roman general from the Western nations of the old Roman Empire, entered Jerusalem, destroyed the Temple, and drove a million of God's people, the Jews, to every part of the earth. Now the prophet says that it is of this people that the Antichrist shall come. With this information in hand, it becomes clear this ruler will arise from the coming together of these Western nations. This appearance of the Antichrist then leads to another important question: the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem-another major sign of Christ's return.

The Rebuilding of the Temple

The Antichrist will come into prominence and power by signing a seven-year peace contract with Israel (Daniel 9:27). Three and a half years after its signing, he will proclaim himself to be God, the true Messiah, and will set himself up as the global ruler in a temple in Jerusalem. Study carefully 2 Thessalonians 2:4, "Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God."

During our visit to the Holy Land, I stood by the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, walked through an arch at the end of the wall, and looked into a great hole in the earth. I observed that there the Jews are attempting to find, as they approach areas of the Dome of the Rock, the Holy of Holies of the old Temple. (Some have indicated through news reports that the Holy of Holies has already been discovered.)

They know that the Wailing Wall is part of the old Temple area, and they say, "As soon as we find the Holy of Holies, we will try to build." Chills ran down my spine when I heard them say this, because they were speaking ancient words of prophecy in the twentieth century!

An organization called "The Association for Progress in the Rebuilding of the Holy Temple" has four objectives:

(1) to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem,

(2) to enlist scholars to research laws and traditions relating to Temple worship,

(3) to set up a fund to receive contributions from Jews in all nations for rebuilding, and

(4) to enlist architects, builders, and designers to draw up the plans.

What is preventing them from accomplishing their task?

According to the Jewish press, the status of the organization is holding back its work because the Israeli government does not want to incite further Arab hatred. Meanwhile, Israel continues to prepare for the rebuilding of the Temple in her own way. Excavations around the Wailing Wall have outlined the boundaries of the old Temple site.

An exciting parallel to the rebuilding of the Temple concerns the $14 million Jerusalem Great Synagogue, which was dedicated August 4, 1982. Built adjoining the "Hechal Schlomo" near the intersection of King George V and Ramban Streets in the new part of Jerusalem, the edifice is only about a mile west of the old Temple site.

The synagogue is intended as a rallying point for world Jewry and as a house of prayer. (The Lord Jesus referred to the old Temple as "the house of prayer" in Matthew 21:13.)

Interestingly, construction of the Jerusalem Great Synagogue took seven years, plus eleven months of delays, to complete. Students of the Bible will recall that King Solomon's original Temple also took seven years to construct-with an additional eleven-month delay!

In addition, consider the facts that

(1) a symbolic "half shekel" offering was received from Jews around the world to finance construction costs;

(2) the number of $50,000 donors was limited to twelve as was the number of $25,000 donors. These figures equal the number of the tribes of Israel and, combined, equal the twenty-four elders seated around Christ's throne in Revelation 4:4;

(3) the synagogue presidents are limited to seventy, the number of elders who once comprised the Sanhedrin. Although the Jews prefer to call this building a synagogue rather than a temple, one of the chief rabbis insists, "We must never believe that this is a substitute for the temple"-observers note that the Great Synagogue could serve well as the Tribulation Temple.

The building contains a symbolic Ark of the Covenant (which the actual ark could replace if or when it is discovered in the old Temple excavation) and a bema seat. The Temple is constructed of the same Jerusalem limestone as Solomon's Temple.

Although there is no sacrificial altar at present, one could easily be constructed and made ready to use.

Continue to read your papers and watch the day-by-day unfolding of this greatest prophecy of all-the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem-a major sign pointing to the return of the King of kings and Lord of lords who sits in His holy temple upon His arrival to earth in Ezekiel chapters 40-48.

The Birth of the Eternal God

I feel that there is a tremendous need to enlighten mankind as to the true identity of Christ. Multitudes think of the Saviour as just another member of the human race born nearly 2,000 years ago.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

In this post

A: I clearly want to trace the preexistence of Christ to prove that He was "the Eternal God" who became man, in order that He might die for poor, helpless, hopeless sinners.

B: I also want to show that His birth had to be through the channels of a virgin, inseminated by the power of the Holy Spirit, if His sacrifice for sinners was to be effective.

Christ's preexistence

The altogether lovely One, born in Bethlehem's manger, existed from all eternity.

The verse that prophesies His exact birthplace also tells of His preexistence. Micah 5:2: But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Isaiah masterfully handles this truth in chapter 9, verse 6, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Let's analyze this verse for a moment.

Notice that a child is born (this speaks of the Lord's birth), but the next phrase mentions a son being given. This speaks about God sending the Son who was in His presence and coincides with Galatians 4:4, When the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son... Then Isaiah goes on to proclaim this Son as God by the titles "The mighty God" and "The everlasting Father." These terms are possible because of the relationship of the Trinity. Remember that Jesus said in John 10:30, I and my Father are one.

John opens his gospel with the statement, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made (John 1:1-3).

In verse 14, he identifies this member of the Trinity who is called the "Word." And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.

Think of it.

This One who was in the beginning with God and was God became flesh and lived among insignificant human beings because of His love for sinners.

Yes, Christ always existed and came from heaven to earth.

Listen to His numerous statements verifying this truth:

  • For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world (John 6:33).
  • I am the living bread which came down from heaven (John 6:51).
  • Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world (John 8:23).
  • I proceeded forth and came from God (John 8:42).

I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world (John 16:28).In His high priestly prayer, Jesus said, I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was (John 17:4,5).

Jesus said in John 5:46, Moses...wrote of me. Here Christ delves back hundreds of years to the first five books of the Bible, called "The Pentateuch," and states that Moses mentioned Him. This is important because Moses recorded these words centuries before the birth of Christ. Jesus also said in John 8:56, Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

How could Abraham see His day centuries before His birth if there were no preexistent One?

Oh, friend, Jesus always existed as a coequal member of the Trinity.

Don't listen to a group of blinded cultists who would rob Christ of His deity, but hear the Word of the Lord.

His preexistence is also proven through the Bible statements indicating that He created the world.
  • John 1:3: All things were made by him.
  • John 1:10: He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
  • Colossians 1:16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.
  • Hebrews 1:2 states, By whom also he [Christ] made the worlds.
The part Christ had in creating the world and mankind agrees with the Old Testament account of creation. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). The Hebrew for God is Elohim, a plural noun, meaning "more than one."

This is a glorious declaration of the Trinity.

You don't believe it?

What will you do with Genesis 1:26? And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.

We have but skimmed the surface of evidence that proves that Christ preexisted His earthly birth. Now let's move on to the glorious truth of His coming to earth via the channel of a virgin's womb.

At this point let's consider Philippians 2:5-8 because it is such a glorious transitional passage. It brings the eternal God from heaven to a bodily appearance upon earth so that He might die for sinners.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God [His spirit form in eternity], thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men [His birth]. Why? Verse 8: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Christ's virgin birth

Lost religionists mock the virgin birth. In an issue of the magazine Challenge, a number of sickening articles and poems appeared. I quote one of them to show the world how far liberal modernistic religionists will go in their attempt to rob Christ of His deity. It is a poem about Mary, the mother of Jesus. In the poem she says:

First, I've got nothing to say-about anything that happened before Joseph and I got married. Jesus was our child. Joseph's and mine. You can believe it or not. Suit yourself. He was my first born so naturally I thought he was something special. So, he's the Messiah they say. I'd rather he had stayed a carpenter, married a nice Jewish girl and given me a lot of fat little grandchildren.

What blasphemy!

This is the prophecy of the Apostle Peter fulfilled before our eyes. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privity shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of (2 Peter 2:1,2).

Yes, the way of truth is often evil spoken of because of ordained wolves in sheep's clothing who call themselves members of the "Christian faith" and yet would tear Christ to shreds if the opportunity presented itself. The crucifixion would be mild in comparison to what some of our lost seminary professors would do to Jesus if they had the chance in this twentieth century. However, let's not waste our time on man's drivel but instead invest it wisely as we listen to the Word of God concerning the truth about the virgin birth.

A virgin birth was necessary because Adam sinned.

Since Adam was the head of the human race, every person born into it through natural generation or through the process of birth inherits the old sinful Adamic nature. Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12).

Yes, all sinned or became guilty of sin simply by inheriting the fallen nature of Adam at birth. Quirks and diseases are passed on from generation to generation. Sugar diabetes is a prime example. Likewise, the sin nature is passed on to every generation. Romans 5:18 is another verse that clearly teaches the necessity of a virgin birth. Therefore as by the offence of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [Christ] the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Notice that judgment came upon all men unto condemnation because of Adam's sin, but through the righteousness of Christ one may be liberated from this judgment. It is only logical to conclude that if Christ had come through the normal channels of reproduction, He would have also been born with this judgment of condemnation upon Him because He also would have inherited Adam's sinful nature. Therefore, in order that He might set men free from this condemnation, He had to be born in another manner so as not to be tainted with the old wicked nature of Adam.

There was only one way this possibility existed and that was through a virgin birth-bypassing man through insemination of the virgin's ova by the Holy Spirit. This ova lies dormant in every woman until it is activated by a male sperm.

Gasoline is also dormant until activated by a spark. Is it an impossibility for the God, who formed man out of the dust of the ground and took a rib out of man to form woman, to place the activating seed within this holy virgin and bring forth His Son through the miracle-working power of His Holy Spirit?

Of course not. This is exactly what the Father did. Hear the Word of God.

The very first messianic prophecy is found in Genesis 3:15.

There we hear the Lord God uttering a prophecy against the serpent, saying, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it [the woman's seed] shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. The statement, "her seed," is the first reference to the virgin birth in God's Word.

All humans are from the seed of man, but the seed of a woman implies a stupendous miracle. Jeremiah 31:22 again speaks of a miraculous event that would occur upon this earth. For the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

A woman conceiving and bearing a man-child would not be a new thing in the earth-this is the rule of life.

After conception, one bears a male or female child. Therefore this entirely new thing that would transpire had to be a miracle.

What was it?
A woman, without any human intervention or penetration, would conceive, carry, and deliver a man-child. This happened to be the Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of the world. Isaiah 7:14 again sheds light on this event of the ages. Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah is not merely referring to a young woman giving birth to a son. That would not be a sign.

Millions of young women have been able to bear sons.

The sign is that a virgin shall bear a son without an act of intercourse.

Forget the arguments of the religious contortionists who argue that the Hebrew word almah is "young woman" instead of "virgin." All one need do is study Matthew 1:23 where the Greek word parthenos can only be translated "virgin" to arrive at a final answer. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Verse 22 states that this is a quotation from the prophet. What prophet? Isaiah. And where did Isaiah make the statement? Chapter 7, verse 14.

So, the Greek text handles the Old Testament Hebrew text proving that God meant a "virgin" and not a "young woman."

I repeat what was stated earlier: A young woman bearing a child would be no sign.

Any of you young expectant mothers reading this would be the first to realize this truth. However, had you become impregnated miraculously by the power of God without knowing a man, it would very obviously be a sign.

What happened to Mary and only to Mary....

The reason that God the Son, originally in spirit form (see Philippians 2:5), had to have an earthly birth is found in Hebrews 10:4,5. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not [animal blood could not take away sin], but a body hast thou prepared me.

Since animal blood only covered sin and was presented as a down payment for sin's debt until God's Lamb should come, Christ had a body with divine blood prepared in the womb of a virgin so that He could shed that blood and die for the sins of the world.

Because it had to be pure blood, free from the taint of Adam's sin, the body and blood were prepared by the Father and placed in the womb of the virgin Mary.

Luke 1:26-28,30,31,34 depicts this thrilling story: {26-28} And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. {30} And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. {31} And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.... {34} Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

This is a precious truth.

Though she was espoused or engaged to Joseph, she had not known a man or experienced premarital sex.

Remember that God wrote the Bible, and He declares that Mary was a pure virgin.

Away with the mentally warped, religious hypocrites who are so defiled that they imagine all sorts of depraved things about this sweet virgin. Not everyone thinks and acts as they do.

Mary declares {34}, "I have never known a man-how shall this baby be conceived?"

The blessed answer is found in verse 35: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Anyone who believes that God created this gigantic, fantastic, and astronomical universe certainly believes that God can bring His only begotten Son into the world by a separate act of creation.

With God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37).

There is the entire story.

The preexistent God, second member of the Trinity, came to take upon himself a body with blood so as to shed His blood for sinners.

The sin-tainted blood inherited from Adam would not qualify Him as the sinless Saviour, so a body was prepared with blood produced by the Father, and placed into the womb of a virgin by the blessed Holy Spirit. Christ eventually went to the cross and shed His blood.

Because He was the God-man shedding untainted holy blood, mankind may have eternal life by receiving this sacrifice.

Believe the Word of God-see Christ crucified and risen again.

Receive this Christ today. A prayer for Salvation
