'...You are not your own.' 1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV
Picture two people standing outside a house.
One says, 'This is my house.' The other replies, 'How come?' The first one says, 'For three reasons. I built it. I paid for it. I live in it.'
Let's look at the first reason why you belong to God:
Creation: Some people think we all came from an amoeba. The problem is they can't tell us where the amoeba came from! The Bible says, 'God created man in His own image...male and female He created them.' (Genesis 1:27 NKJV)
Some people say that the earth came into existence as a result of the 'big bang' theory. Yet if you told them, 'The car you drive right now was the result of an explosion at an assembly plant in Geelong,' they'd question your sanity.
- If there's a design, there must be a designer.
- If there's a creation, there must be a Creator.
- And since God made you, He holds ownership rights over you.
The Bible says: 'Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.' (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV)
Not only did God create you, He gave you certain gifts so that you could fulfil His purposes and bring glory to Him.
So before they tag your toe and write your obituary, ask God what you were born to do. Only by finding and fulfilling His purpose, can you fill the God-shaped space within you, given to you when you were born.
